You may look at the announcement page and artwork for Hexyz Force and think, "hey, this is the same series as Riviera and Yggdra Union, right?" As it turns out, it's not.

But what exactly is it? Educate yourself by watching the following video and then reading the official press release from Atlus USA.

IRVINE, CALIFORNIA -- JANUARY 7, 2010 -- Atlus U.S.A., Inc. today announced that it will bring Hexyz Force, a bold new RPG for PSP (PlayStation Portable) system courtesy of Sting (developers of Riviera, Yggdra Union, and the award-winning Knights in the Nightmare), to North America on May 25th. Built from the ground up to take full advantage of the power of PSP system, extensively optimized to deliver virtually non-existent load times, and boasting some of the most polished visuals and sounds found to date in a handheld RPG, Hexyz Force is the consummate gamer's game, the kind of experience and final package genre fans would make if they could call the shots.

Hexyz Force also stands as one of the most narrative-driven portable RPGs of all time, giving users not one, but two separate campaigns to embark upon. Complete and whole unto themselves, the two stories present radically different sides of a sweeping saga, satisfying gamers in search of a deep, handheld roleplaying experience while ultimately providing value-minded players with two games for the price of one.

Hexyz Force is currently scheduled to release in stores on May 25, 2010, and via PlayStation Network on May 27th; both versions have an MSRP of $29.99.
