One year to the day after its Japanese release, Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies is now available for $34.99 US on the Nintendo DS. Unlike its predecessors, Dragon Quest IX sports a new multiplayer focus and is the first in the well-beloved series to launch on a handheld platform. The game also sports a variety of other changes from previous titles, including no random encounters and fully customizable player appearances. The number of changes are interesting for a series known for its adherence to tried-and-true traditions, and should help to offer something new to long-time fans. Look for it today in a store near you!

Meanwhile, over in Japan, the 184th and final downloadable quest for the game has finally been released. Entitled 'May May May,' the quest is accessible from Bitari Shore once players have cleared Dragon Quest IX, and named after a sheep named May who is looking for a certain item. Once you've cleared this quest, you will receive a special map and a message from the developers.
