So here's the skinny on the soundtrack for Monolithsoft's newest RPG, Xenoblade for the Wii.

The soundtrack, which will span four discs, is planned to be released on June 23rd. A vocal track has been composed by Yasunori Mitsuda (who previously worked on Xenogears and Xenosaga Ep. I). However, the majority of the soundtrack is being written by Yoko Shimomura (Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy Versus XIII).

The biggest surprise, from our perspective, is that the soundtrack is being published by Dog Ear Records. Founded by Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu in 2006, this record label has primarily released Uematsu's own work in its four year lifespan. That the label is branching out and publishing soundtracks from other composers is certainly worth noting; that the new epic RPG Xenoblade is having its soundtrack on the label is even more exciting from our perspective.

Expect a review of the Xenoblade soundtrack soon after its release here on RPGFan!
