Are you ready to wield the Blade of the Exiled?

Usually, when Neal's reviewing an indie-developed RPG, it's on the PC. And it's either created in RPG Maker, or in some other simple tool set.

Today, Neal gets the privilege of reviewing a totally indie game that made it to the DS, courtesy of underdog publisher Graffiti Entertainment. These guys are in the habit of giving small-scale developers a chance to get their games onto major platforms. In the past we saw them bring Brazilian-developed Mazes of Fate to North America.

A few weeks ago, Black Sigil: Blade of the Exiled hit store shelves. We noted in our E3 coverage while demoing the game that the encounter rate was far too high. Graffiti countered by saying that they thought this is another oldschool feature that fans would enjoy. As it turns out, Neal and I are not alone in saying that this is one of the biggest marks against the game. Fortunately, there's a lot of good stuff to outweigh the bad. Or at least, that's Neal's opinion on the title.

If you're ready for a full-scale homage to SNES RPGs in the form of a classic DS title, check out the review, and then check out the game!
