E3: Heroes of Telara
Trion World's MMORPG on display.

We had a chance to sit down and talk to the staff of Trion World Network about their upcoming MMORPG, Heroes of Telara. Trion World Network is focused on creating a server-oriented MMORPG with dynamic events. Their servers will be focused on bringing people together physically - instead of having servers in charge of geographical areas, there will be scalable servers in charge of individual portions of the game. As such, the server won't bog down when lots of people enter a single part of the world.

With that, Trion is looking to make Heroes of Telara a game where players can make an actual impact. With the server-oriented setup, the team at Trion can have a changing world that is actually impacted by what players do. As such, there will be Heroic Quests that will happen randomly in the world, giving players unique content to play at all times. As such, players can engage in truly heroic behavior, as opposed to slaying the same dragons over and over.

The game will feature four classes and three races. There are items in the game that will allow players to have sub-classes. Trion showed us a few, allowing a Warrior to become a Berserker, giving him more ability to fight multiple monsters, but losing a great deal of defense. These subclasses will be available to the player permanently once obtained. Players are not limited to one class and can switch their character to any of the four classes in town. There are plenty of non-combat subclasses, as well.

There's not a whole lot of information available about the game's setup for the social structure, PvP content, or for its minimum requirements as the game is still in development. The title is slated for release in 2010.
