Gust, NIS and IF Team Up for PS3 RPG
Trinity Universe confirmed for August release.
05.07.09 - 9:17 PM

Gust, Nippon Ichi Software and Idea Factory have joined forces to develop Trinity Universe, an original RPG for PlayStation 3. Currently 60% complete, the game will offer two main scenarios: The Gust x Goddess scenario and the Nippon Ichi x Demon King scenario. The former will let the player assume control over the Goddess of War. Players will meet up with Viorate (Atelier Viorate: Alchemist of Gramnad 2) and Flonne (Disgaea series) and enjoy an adventure of love and justice. On the other hand, the Demon King scenario tells the story of the Demon King Kanata. He will be joined by Etna (Disgaea series) and Pamela Ibis (Atelier series).

The developers have incorporated a system known as Active Animation Adventure into Trinity Universe. Thanks to this system, the characters come to live during conversations, for instance by moving eyes and mouth. Moreover, icons will convey feelings such as anger or surprise.

Upon investigating matter floating in space, events will be triggered and the party can enter dungeons. The aim is to rid the world of those floating objects by destroying gravitational fields located inside the dungeons. Once a field has been successfully destroyed, the party has to escape within a limited period of time. As a nifty side effect, the destruction of those gravitational fields will result in easier access to rare items.

Battles consist of attack and defend phases (similar to Ar tonelico II). For attack turns, a time limit has been implemented. Within the given time frame, players can repeatedly attack their opposition with attack chains, heavy blows or magic. Executing three skills in a particular sequence will allow the party to use more powerful skills.

Trinity Universe will be available in Japan this August for 7,329 yen ($74.42 USD).
