Gust Announces Atelier Annie for DS
09.04.08 - 8:06 AM

Gust announced Annie no Atelier: Sera-tou no Renkinjutsushi (Atelier Annie: The Alchemist of Sera Island) for DS. The game is developed by Amazing, an Osaka-based company which has developed games for Square Enix, Capcom, and Nippon Ichi Software in the past.

The game's protagonist is a young girl named Annie, who happens to be an apprentice in alchemy. Annie has to help building a resort on Sera Island by using her alchemic skills. Other characters include Hans Ahrens and Pepe. Hans is the man in charge of the resort's construction. Thanks to his sheltered upbringing, he knows nothing of the world around him. Pepe is a spirit teaching alchemy to Annie.

System-wise, Atelier series fans will feel right at home, as the development team apparently does not plan to introduce any major changes to the series's traditional formula. Players will visit the adventurers guild and choose a quest they want to do. After collecting the various raw materials neccessary to complete the job, players will have to guide Annie back home, where she can use her alchemic skills to fuse various items. In order to complete a quest these items then have to be brought to the adventurers guild. Annie no Atelier's development is already 80% complete.
Annie no Atelier: Sera-tou no Renkinjutsushi is set for a 2009 release in Japan. In addition to the 4,800 yen ($44.19 USD) standard release, a limited edition premium box will be available for 6,800 yen ($62.61 USD).
