GungHo Announces Mimana
07.12.08 - 5:09 AM

GungHo Works, a wholly-owned subsidiary of GungHo Online Entertainment, plans to publish its first original PlayStation Portable-based RPG in Japan later this year. Mimana: Iyar Chronicle is developed by Premium Agency, a Tokyo-based studio whose track record includes working on Folklore and Shadow of the Colossus. Planning is handled by Kogadou's Kuronekosan Team.

As already suggested by its title, the game takes place on a planet named Iyar. Iyar used to be a prosperous place. It was ruled by a king residing in a huge castle. The castle's White Tower was said to be so tall that its top reached Iyar's moon. One day, however, this prosperity fell victim to a demon race known as Faster. Using magic stones, they destroyed the planet's surface. Eventually, the Great Wizard Feres came to Iyar's rescue and restored peace.

Since these days of legend a lot of time has passed. As Mimana's story begins the magic stones become important once more. So far two characters have been announced: Krais and Sefi. The former used to be an able mage knight, but these days he is barely making a living by accepting jobs from a mercenary guild in order to pay off his gambling debt. For unknown reasons, he hates children. Sefi, a young female minstrel is searching for something. Through the guild she hires Krais as a guardian accompanying her on her journey.

Mimana: Iyar Chronicle will be available in Japan later this year.
