Former Capcom Vets working on DS RPG

Platinum Games, founded by former Capcom and Clover veterans, today announced its first three projects. Among the three titles, which will be published by Sega, is a DS-based science fiction RPG tentatively titled Infinite Line. The game is directed by Clock Tower mastermind and Steel Battalion director Hifumi Kouno.

Similar to Level 5's Rogue Galaxy, Infinite Line will feature various planets and groups each possessing a distinctive culture. The player will get to travel through two galaxies. To avoid lengthy trips from point A to B, the developers are implementing warp points to speed up space travel as much as possible, though. The player will construct and enhance his own spacecraft. Building such a craft requires plans determining the ship's basic capabilities. More than 150 of those blueprints will be available in the game.

Since we are already talking numbers, more than 200 characters are set to make an appearance in the game. Some of them can be recruited to become your spacecraft's crew. Each of these crew members will possess different looks and skills.

In battle, the number of selectable commands will increase over time as a particular gauge fills up.

Apart from the story mode, Infinite Line also offers a PvP wireless battle mode.

Infinite Line will hit Japanese retail store shelves sometime next year.
