02.15.07 - 12:25 AM

Bandai Namco today announced its results for the third quarter of the current fiscal year. During the April to December period, the company posted a net profit of 19.89 billion yen ($163.76 million USD) on sales of 330.52 billion yen ($2.72 billion USD).

The success of Dragon Ball Z: Sparking NEO (1.03 million copies sold in Japan and Europe), Kidou Senshi Gundam SEED Destiny Rengou vs. ZAFT II (510,000 copies sold in Japan) and Tales of Destiny (387,000 copies sold in Japan) for PlayStation 2 in Japan, as well as the performance of the PlayStation Portable-based Tekken Dark Resurrection (848,000 copies sold worldwide) outside Japan, gave the company's gaming division several reasons to celebrate. Meanwhile, Xenosaga Episode III: Also sprach Zarathustra (Thus spoke Zarathustra) sold 343,000 copies in Japan, North America and Asia. Sales of Tales of the Tempest reached 301,000 copies in Japan and Asia. Banpresto's Summon Night 4 recorded sales of 202,000 copies in Japan. However, the delay of several key titles had a negative effect on the division's performance. Accordingly, sales were down 4.7% to 100.22 billion yen ($824.95 million USD), while operating profit declined by 22.9% to 9.58 billion yen ($78.87 million USD).

For the full fiscal year ending on March 31st, Bandai Namco expects a net profit of 23.5 billion yen ($193.48 million USD) on sales of 460 billion yen ($3.79 billion USD).
