11.11.06 - 12:06 PM

EVE Online creators CCP games have announced their merger with the pen-and-paper oriented RPG house White Wolf. White Wolf is responsible for the World of Darkness setting, which includes the universe in Troika's 2004 release Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines. The merger of the two companies is good for both pen and paper roleplayers as well as the digital kind, as CCP will be developing new online games based on White Wolf franchises, and White Wolf will be developing new types of EVE product.

"White Wolf possesses the role-play gaming industry's leading creative minds and some of the most recognizable role-playing properties in the world," said Hilmar Petursson, CCP's CEO, "Virtual worlds are a new form of entertainment, separate from traditional computer games. By combining forces, we will create a company unsurpassed in quality, innovation and scope which will keep us at the forefront of this emerging trend."

White Wolf will keep its name and will operate as a subsidiary of CCP Games. Hilmar Petursson will work as CEO for both companies and current White Wolf president Mike Tinney will keep his job as president of the subsidiary.
