MTV's Video Music Awards Adds VG Score Category
08.04.06 - 2:58 PM

MTV's Video Music Awards have been a bastion of 'cool' for the mainstream, but has mostly gained the ire of the internets. Two years ago, the awards added a video game soundtrack award, which has been awarded to Tony Hawk's Underground and Dance Dance Revolution Extreme. This year the folks at MTV have added a video game score category. Are we a little sore that no compositions by Uematsu, Mitsuda, or Sakuraba haven't made the list? More than a little bit, but at least a couple of games we've covered have made the nomination list:

Electroplankton - Nintendo (Toshio Iwai)
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - 2K Games/Bethesda (Jeremy Soule)
Dreamfall: The Longest Journey - Aspyr/Funcom (Even "Magnet" Johansen)
Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter - Ubisoft (Tom Saita)
Hitman: Blood Money - Eidos/IO Interactive (Jesper Kyd)

The MTV Video Music Awards will take place August 31st.
