Square Enix Talks Next-gen MMORPG
07.18.06 - 3:32 PM

Following yesterday's report by the Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Square Enix today issued an official denial and clarification. While the company indeed re-confirmed that it was working on a next-generation MMORPG, the game would be an original title and not a sequel to Final Fantasy XI. Square Enix went on to say that the target platforms for the game have yet to be decided. Yesterday's story by the Nihon Keizai Shimbun spoke of the game heading for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PCs running Windows Vista.

Nonetheless, the game's producer Hiromichi Tanaka, who also serves as Final Fantasy XI producer, clearly stated in an April interview with Japanese website GameWatch that he was working on a next-generation MMORPG for PlayStation 3 and Windows Vista.
