EA to Purchase Mythic

Electronic Arts and Mythic Entertainment have entered an agreement that will result in the acquisition of Mythic Entertainment by Electronic Arts. Upon completion, Mythic Entertainment will become EA Mythic, a stand-alone MMORPG studio. The acquisition is not yet final, but is expected to be so in the EA's second fiscal quarter of 2007.

Mark Jacobs, current President of Mythic Entertainment, will become Vice President and General Manager of EA Mythic, while Rob Denton, Vice President of Mythic Entertainment will become Vice President and COO of EA Mythic. Mythic's current 175-member team will stay headquartered in Virginia.

Mythic Entertainment is responsible for Dark Age of Camelot and the upcoming Warhammer Online, both for the PC.
