Summer of Falcom Music Pt. 1
06.27.05 - 10:35 PM

You've seen it from us before: an entire update filled with the music from our beloved RPG (and action RPG, and strategy RPG) creators, Falcom. Today's music comes from The Legend of Heroes VI, Ys, and Ys III.

I do not mean to boost my own reputation, but I have taken the time out of my summer to reflect on some great Falcom tunes old and new. Five of today's seven reviews are written by yours truly. Two are written by Derek Strange, who is quickly becoming a regular contributor around here.

The two written by Derek Strange are "Music From Ys III Wanderers From Ys" and "Music From Ys Renewal." In turn, I wrote reviews for "Ys III Wanderers From Ys Super Arrange Version" and "Music From Ys." We planned it this way. Indulge yourself in these classic soundtracks that are now fairly difficult to locate. It's retro-reviews for soundtracks, yo!

The other three are the OST and Super Arrange Version of The Legend of Heroes VI, as well as "Symphony Gagharv Trilogy", which features spectacular arranged music from The Legend of Heroes III ~ V. Be sure to listen to the samples for the newest installment of this fine series: I was impressed by the dramatic change in style and the quality of production on these albums.

That's today's update. As I said in many previous updates, this summer is overloaded with soundtrack reviews. Apparently people have a lot more free time in the summer to submit reader reviews (who would've guessed?), because there are stockpiles of these fine reviews waiting to reach your eyes and ears. In the future, expect more Falcom, some Lunar, tons of Atelier series, some Shining series, and a number of other random this-and-thats. If you have something to add to our overload of reviews, remember to follow submission guidelines (found on the soundtracks mainpage) and submit to us! Thanks for reading!
