06.25.05 - 12:47 AM

Funcom is commemorating the fourth anniversary of the release of its flagship title Anarchy Online. The Oslo, Norway-based company reported that the popularity of its science-fiction themed MMORPG continues to grow, as more than 250,000 new users have opened an Anarchy Online account during the last six months.

Funcom plans to celebrate this fourth birthday in style, with PvP tournaments, scavenger hunts, trivia contests, hide and seek games, locating hidden items on random advertisement billboards and dance/costume contents throughout the weekend. The company has teamed up with Alienware, ATI Technologies, Creative Labs, Logitech, Microsoft, GameSpot and IGN to offer fans a vast range of prizes. Gridstream Productions and MMOradio will provide live coverage of the various events.
At the same time, Funcom pledged continued support to Anarchy Online. In addition to the new expansion pack Anarchy Online: Lost Eden, other content updates, a veteran program for long-term users and ground-texture enhancements are also in the company's pipeline.
