Generation of Chaos V Announced for PS2
04.29.05 - 12:28 AM

Idea Factory has opened the official website for its newest PlayStation 2 strategy RPG, Shinten Makai Generation of Chaos V. The game will take place on the island of Edith. There a war has gone on for generations. However, as this war continued, all the hatred led to the appearance of an evil god called Gen, who summoned the destructive dark lightning. The lightning torched trees, split the world and wiped out life wherever it struck. The survivors of the calamity made their way to an ancient tower said to be built by the Gods themselves. This is the legend of the Tower, which in the game's present times nobody is willing to believe anymore. The world of Edith however remains split in three parts: underground, ground-level and the sky.

For the time being, only information about the underground level is available on the website. In this world beneath the surface, airplanes, trains and cars are used as means of transportation. One day a battle breaks out in a forest under the control of the Kingdom of Zevanz. The kingdom has come under the attack by the Destraid Empire. As the news about the attacks spread to the capital, protagonist Kuon and his fellow Gon are heading for the scene to find out what is going on. In the ensuing battle with police units, Kuon suffers a minor injury and while being treated at the hospital, meets a mysterious girl called Iris. For some reason, she is being chased by the Imperial army. Other characters include another fellow of Kuon's by the name of Gyuloro who is studying magic and has wealthy parents, and Marie, head of the capital city's police force. Furthermore, the military officer Hank, the Empire's army minister Drewein and the soldier Jerunko who follows Drewein's orders.

Those who pre-order the game in Japan will be treated to a Digital Data and Voice Collection DVD. This disc will contain a special Generation of Chaos V promotional trailer, character illustrations, voice samples of the main characters and a first look at a so far unannounced title currently in development at Idea Factory.

Shinten Makai Generation of Chaos V will be released in Japan sometime this summer. The standard version will be available for 6,800 yen ($64.25 US), while the limited edition will retail for 8,800 yen ($83.14 US). The latter will ship with a two-disc soundtrack, an artbook, a map and a set of nine trading cards.
