Namco has announced that the company has shipped more than 600,000 copies of its PlayStation 2 RPG Tales of Rebirth to retail stores across Japan on the day of the game's release. Accordingly, company representatives were content with the performance of the RPG series' tenth installment. In particular, the number of middle and senior high school kids purchasing a game in the Tales series has increased.

Following Tales of Destiny 2 and Tales of Symphonia, Tales of Rebirth is the third installment released for PlayStation 2. Tales of Destiny 2 sold more than 800,000 copies in Japan, thereby becoming one of the best selling titles of 2002. Released earlier this year, the PlayStation 2 version of Tales of Symphonia managed to sell 380,000 copies in Japan.
