Hudson Projects Loss, Announces Restructuring

Hudson projects a consolidated net loss of 7.3 billion yen ($70.74 million US) for the full fiscal year ending on March 31st 2005. During the previous fiscal year 2003/2004, Hudson posted a profit of 828 million yen ($8.02 million US). To rationalize operations and strengthen cost control, the company has revealed a major restructuring program, under which the current five divisions will be integrated into three new divisions. The network contents division will be in charge of development online games for the PC platforms and cellphone-based software. The development of console titles and games for other publishers will be united in the consumer contents division. The core technology division will develop semi-conductor chips and applied technologies.

Hudson is currently working on the newest installment of its RPG series Tengai Makyou (Far East of Eden), Tengai Makyou III: Namida for PlayStation 2. The game will be available in Japan sometime in spring 2005.
