FFXI Chains of Promathia to Feature Bahamut
08.27.04 - 1:50 PM

Square Enix has updated the official website for its Final Fantasy XI expansion Chains of Promathia with new information. The second expansion to the popular MMORPG for PlayStation 2 and PC will feature one of the Final Fantasy series' most popular characters, Bahamut. No information regarding his role in the game's evolving story has been provided so far, but on the website he is referred to as the Wyrm King. Joining the previously revealed non-playable characters are Tenzen, a highly capable, loyal and honarable samurai on a secret mission, Justinius, the brave and serious head of the forces guarding the islands of Tavnazia and the Chebukki twins, Makki-Chebukki, Kukki-Chebukki and Cherukiki. The Chebukkis are an opportunistic three-some born and raise in Tavnazia. As with Rise of Zilart, Chains of Promathia also will come with some new equipment: The Sha'ir Manteel is a dark-colored, lightweight armor decorated with sparkling jems. Originating from the same region as the Manteel is the Barone Corazza, a luxurious armor worn by the Tavnazian Knights at a time when the region was still a prosperous place. The Bison Jacket is a battle armor, originally worn by a legendary tribe of warrior from a land for to the west. Easy to wear, its tough leather ensures that even the strongest blows will have little effect on its wearer. Originating from Mithran homelands, the Igqira Weskit is an armor covered with patterns and symbol aimed at protecting its wearer against evil spirits and curses.

Final Fantasy XI Chains of Promathia will be available in Japan on September 16th, with an US release following on September 21st.
