Even More Dragon Quest VIII Details Announced
08.21.04 - 10:33 PM

The newest issue of V-JUMP magazine contained some new tidbits regarding the eighth installment of Square Enix's long-running RPG series Dragon Quest. The Level 5-developed Dragon Quest VIII will incorporate a so-called tension system. The game's battle menu will feature a charge command, which if utilized raises a character's tension level and results in his or her attack, spell or skill getting more powerful. This charge command can be used multiple times until characters enter a state of high tension. Successfully connecting an attack upon charging will also result in gaining more experience. Charge will however have no effect on the defensive capability of a character. Furthermore, certain monsters will also be able to use the command to their advantage. Three new monsters have also been introduced: The Denden Dragon, which is a round-shaped enemy, the Surprise Satan and the bug-like Helmet Youngster.

Dragon Quest VIII: Sora to Umi to Daichi to Norowareshi Himegimi will be available in Japan sometime this winter.
