Disgaea Goes Cellphone
05.25.04 - 2:47 AM

Nippon Ichi Software has released Mugen Keitai Disgaea for NTT DoCoMo's i-mode services. Users of the 505i (and higher) series cellphone models can control Laharl, protagonist of the original PlayStation 2 title, who has to reclaim his body after Etna scattered the parts of his body beneath his father's castle. Like Phantasy Star Online Episode III: C.A.R.D. Revolution and Baten Kaitos: Owaranai Tsubasa to Ushinawareta Umi, Mugen Keitai Disgaea's battle system is card-centered, as cards determine your attack power and defense in battle. After you have used one card, you will receive a new one. Hence, the selection of cards does have significant effects on your battle strategy. The game's biggest innovation however is a feature which allows the player to disassemble characters and equip their parts on Laharl. Head, body, hands or legs can be freely mixed together to create your very own Laharl. Depending on the battle, body parts can gain levels and become stronger. Additionally, the game also features standard RPG features such as a weapon system, event scenes and party members.

The monthly usage fee for Mugen Keitai Disgaea has been fixed at 300 yen ($2.68 US).
