Final Fantasy XI April Patch Goes Live
04.23.04 - 2:31 PM

Square Enix has uploaded the newest patch of its MMORPG Final Fantasy XI to the game's servers. The April update introduces among other features the first Conflict event, titled Ballista, which consists of several stand-alone events. It is scheduled to become a permanent feature in the future. To make alliances more attractive, new quests and battles specifically aimed at those large player unions have been added. Additional Guild-related quests calling for the creation of a specific item and a low-level quest to obtain the pact for summoning avatars have also been implemented. On various outposts users now can take part in so-called Garrison events. This type of event requires players to give a certain item to the respective outpost's guard. After that, players can enter the event, which carries a level restriction varying from location to location. Two new orb battles are now accessible and the fee for title changes has been lowered. Several battle-related issues, such as the TP accumulation with multiple strike weapon skills have been corrected and new magic and abilities added. With "hurray" and "toss" two new emotes have been implemented. The use of "Sneak" will now result in the players footsteps becoming inaudible. In addition, several new terms have been added to the auto-translate list.

Since this only covers the more prominent updates and changes, please see this page for a complete list, or take a look at the info in-game.
