Funcom Announces Dreamfall Details
02.20.04 - 1:30 PM

Following months of silence after the initial announcement, Oslo, Norway-based developer and publisher Funcom has lifted the curtain over the sequel to its popular adventure The Longest Journey. Titled Dreamfall, the new game will feature new, enhanced 3D graphics and advanced character animations, while focusing on character and story development. Set in the 23rd century, Dreamfall tells the story of a young lady uncovering a conspiracy related to dreams and aiming to destroy the worlds of science and magic. Faced with the paramount task to solve this mystery she seeks help from a familiar face: The Longest Journey protagonist April Ryan. To support the game's development, Funcom has been awarded a grant from the Norwegian Film Fund, marking the first time the European country's government is actively supporting a video game.

Dreamfall will be available by fall 2005, but expect more details to surface at the time of this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, when Funcom will debut a playable version of its newest title.
