Atlus To Release Digital Devil Saga in Japan this Summer
02.04.04 - 2:47 PM

Today Atlus lifted the curtain over its newest PlayStation 2 title, Digital Devil Saga: Avatel Tuner. Despite being the newest addition to the company's flagship series Shin Megami Tensei, it will break with series traditions such as negotiating and aliening oneself with demons. Instead players will be eating their enemies. Thereby the protagonists will wake Atoma, a power allowing them to transform into demons. When fighting demons, the characters can transform into demons themselves and by eating fallen enemies, acquire their energy and karma (experience points). After having amassed a certain amount of karma, the player's level will increase. By eating your foes you will also inherit their skills, and if certain conditions are meet, will be able to unleash a powerful combination attack. Furthermore, the new battle system will enable the player to dodge certain attribute-related attacks, by resorting to the break command. If done correctly, this system gives you the opportunity to counter attack. Last but not least, a character growth map called Mantra Flow was revealed.

Digital Devil Saga: Avatel Tuner will be available in Japan sometime in the summer.
