Ken Kutaragi Becomes Sony COO

Ken Kutaragi, the father of the PlayStation family of consoles and president of Sony Computer Entertainment has been promoted to become the COO of SCE's parent company Sony and president of the newly founded Semiconductor Solutions Network Company, which will coordinate Sony's semiconductor business starting next year. Earlier this year, Kutaragi had been appointed as vice president of Sony. He will retain his positions as CEO and president of Sony's game division. Apart from Kutaragi, fellow vice presidents Howard Stringer (president of Sony America) and Shizuo Takashino, were promoted to the post of COO. The promotions will become effective November 1st.
