New Suikoden IV Details

Konami has released additional details regarding the recently announced PlayStation 2 RPG, Suikoden IV. The game's development team is headed by producer and character designer Junko Kouno, executive producer Tomonori Matsugawa, and director Masashi Enda.

The game's protagonist is an orphan who has worked as a maid for a feudal lord. During his journey, he makes contact with the Curse Rune. While this rune grants its bearer a considerable power, it conversely sucks the life out of him. Once the current bearer is gone, it randomly seeks a new one. Furthermore, it is able to show the bearer certain fragemented memories of other people, and thereby brings great sorrow and distress to its bearer.

In an interview with The PlayStation 2, executive producer Matsugawa mentioned that he plans to show a five minute trailer of the game at this month's Tokyo Game Show. As there will be some surprising scenes contained within, he urged fans to come and watch. While he refused to go into any specifics regarding the game's time frame, he said that Suikoden IV is to I what III was to II.

Suikoden IV will be available in Japan sometime in 2004.
