Square Enix Releases Annual Report

In its new annual report, Square Enix has released new statistics regarding its sales numbers in Japan and abroad. With total sales of 25.027 million units of software sold (based on unit sales of TOP 30 selling console games excluding handheld software) in Japan, the company even topped the ones like Nintendo, Konami or Sony Computer Entertainment as the country's No.1 3rd party publisher. Combined sales for its two flagship series Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest have exceeded 75 million copies worldwide. So far, 29 titles have managed to sell more one million copies worldwide.

Final Fantasy XI for PlayStation 2 and PC has now reached 282,000 subscribers, with the number of characters exceeding 617,000 in Japan. Cross Gate, a PC MMORPG which was launched in mid-2001 and is available in Japan, China and Taiwan boasts a cumulative subscription base of 10 million.
