Final Fantasy X-2 Tops Half-Year Ranking
07.09.03 - 11:00 PM

Square Enix's sequel to Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy X-2 for the PlayStation 2 managed to claim the title of best-selling game in Japan during the first half of 2003. Not so surprisingly, the charts are dominated by PlayStation 2 software with 55 titles making their way into the top 100. 27 GameBoy Advance (SP), 13 GameCube, four PlayStation One, and one Xbox title also found their way into the charts. Among the publishers Nintendo is leading the pack with 16 titles, followed by Konami (12), Square Enix (9), Bandai, Namco, Sega and Capcom (7 each). So far, only two titles managed to reach the platinum mark of one million copies this year. Final Fantasy X-2 still has a chance to go double platinum, though. Another five titles (among them Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, Dragon Quest Monsters Caravan Heart and 2nd Super Robot Taisen Alpha) sold more than 500,000 copies. Below you will find the complete run-down (note: titles marked with an asterisk* were already released in 2002; this list only contains their sales from January 1st until June 30th, 2003).
