E3: RPGFan Talks To Natsume
05.14.03 - 4:33 PM

Natsume confirmed at E3 that both the GBA and GameCube Harvest Moon titles will be released simultaneously in October.  The games will feature connectivity for event and character transfer, as well as a possibility for item transfer.

Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town for the GBA is based off of the relationships in the PSOne version of Harvest Moon, Back to Nature. The game is all-new, however, and will allow players to build their own farms and raise a family.  The GBA version of the game has been released in Japan, and is 85% completed for a North American release.

Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life for the GameCube will feature a slew of new options and will cover a timespan of 30 years, allowing your character to get married, have a child and have the child grow up.  Natsume has confirmed that the game will have a hybrid vegetable system, as well as an improved animal care system.  Players will be able to do more than simple tasks on their animals.

Natsume also spoke of the release of a new GBA action RPG, CIMA: The Enemy.  Based on the wars between the human race and the CIMA race, CIMA is developed by Neverland, the team responsible for the SNES Lufia games.  The two main characters, Ark, a human, and Ivy, a CIMA, are working together to stop the war. CIMA features what are called "Active Playing Characters", in lieu of NPCs.  These characters will be minorly controlled by the player and are integral to the game.  Natsume will be pushing for a fall 2003 release, but the game will defnately be out before the end of the year.

Natsume also had some bad news for fans of Car Battler Joe.  Due to retailers rejecting Car Battler Joe, a sequel will not be developed.  Natsume and fans were happy with the game, but retailers did not stock it amongst the Pokemons and Yu-Gi-Oh!s.
