Sega To Decide About Merger Next Month
04.23.03 - 6:37 PM

Following today's meeting of Sega's board of directors, the company has announced that a final decision regarding the merger proposals by Namco and Sammy will be made public early next month.

Earlier this week, various sources across Japan spoke of Sega's management preferring a merger with Sammy, while the development staff was in favor of a tie-up with Namco. One president who has already overseen a merger, Square Enix president Youichi Wada, said in an interview that Namco's proposal to Sega was a "necessary" step. Many people involved in the entire process believe struggling Capcom might be the next target for a future take-over or merger.
