The Japanese Computer Entertainment Software Association CESA has announced the winners of its annual Game Awards. Apart from already released games (release peroid between January 1st 2001 and March 31st 2002), games displayed at Tokyo Game Show have been awarded with the Game Award Future. Square's Final Fantasy X, the best selling title in Japan last year, was awarded the Most Valuable Game Award, with Kingdom Hearts being among the winners of the Exellence Award. Sony Computer Entertainment's ICO received a special award.
Among the Game Awards Future winners were most of the high-profile RPGs which were exhibited at this year's TGS: Namco's Tales of Destiny 2, Square's Unlimited SaGa and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Sega's PS2 remake of the original Sakura Taisen, Sakura Taisen Atsuki Chishio Ni, Enix's Star Ocean: Till The End of Time and Sega's Phantasy Star Online Episode I and II for the Xbox.
The awards were handed over to the various development teams and company representatives respectively at a ceremony in Tokyo today.
