A Hot Summer and Slow Sales in Japan

Apparently the majority of Japanese gamers currently prefer other leisure activities over buying and playing games, as even this week's best selling game only managed to sell a mere 60,902 copies. Still on spot 2 is Banpresto's Super Robot Taisen R for GameBoy Advance, which sold 40,575 to reach a total of 194,544 copies. Enterbrain's RPG Tsukuru 5 and NEC Interchannel's AIR for PlayStation 2 managed to enter the charts at spots 5 and 10 selling 30,968 and 17,520 copies, respectively. Konami's two recent RPG releases, Genso Suikoden 3 for PS2 and Yugioh Duel Monsters 7 for GBA, have fallen to spots 18 and 29, selling 11,767 and 6,077 copies each. Suikoden 3 has sold a total of 320,809 copies and Yugioh 178,999 copies since their releases. Further entries in the TOP 50 include Nintendo's GBA RPG Golden Sun: The Lost Age at 32, the first volume of Bandai's PS2 RPG .hack at 38 and Dragon Quest Monsters 1 and 2 for PSOne at 42.
