Riviera Details

Just last week, Bandai released an original WonderSwan RPG titled Yakusoku no Chi Riviera (The Promised Land Riviera), which was developed by Sting.

In the beginning, Gods and angels lived in the World of Gods and the dark forces resided in their respective world, but one day the demons invaded the World of Gods. This event caused the world to drift towards total chaos. The power of darkness proved too strong for the World of Gods, which collapsed after the battle. Despite a decisive victory, the angel race declined soon after. However its entire power and wisdom was transferred and focused in one place: the Island of Riviera, a place where faithful souls gathered. For a while, there was peace, before a new battle between good and evil was about to commence once again.

The game's main character is Ecthel, a Angel of Death without wings, who carries the divine sword Excellion. Other characters include a second angel called Ledah, Rothe, Ecthel's black cat, Lyuri, a trouble-making girl who knows how to handle guns, as well as Fiaa, Serene and Cierra.

Riviera boasts eight different types of evil enemies. It is split up in stages and features the so-called Easy Trigger System, which allows for very complex actions to be executed by pressing just one button.

Released last week alongside Bandai's upgraded version of the WonderSwan Color, Swan Crystal, Yakusoku no Chi Riviera retails for 4,980yen ($42.99 USD).
