Neverwinter Nights Coming to Mac OS X

While Macs overall have a smaller selection of games than the Windows-dominated PC market, the platform has been getting a lot more of them in the past few years. Sadly, the transition time between platforms is sometimes less than ideal. MacSoft aims to change that, at least once, in the case of Neverwinter Nights.

Neverwinter Nights, the oft-delayed PC RPG by Bioware, has been confirmed to be coming to Mac OS X later this year. The game will be published on the Mac by MacSoft, a subsidiary of Infogrames. There's no word if an OS 9 version will also be made available, but it's unlikely.

The game will feature editing tools, to allow players to create their own scenarios, which can be shared with other people over the internet. The tools, called the BioWare Aurora Neverwinter Toolset, is so far only confirmed for the PC port, as BioWare has said before they wouldn't be available for Mac. However, MacSoft stated it is working on bringing the toolset over, depending on the outcome of a review of the toolset code.

With the review of the toolset code, and other work related to porting the game, the Mac version of NWN won't be available alongside the PC one later this month, but MacSoft plans to finish the conversion by the end of summer.
