Square Talks Of the Future

In a recent investor meeting, Square announced its plans for the future. Under new president Yoichi Wada, the company will now be focusing on their main business of video games; therefore, funds will not be spent on outside areas, such as movies.

Square will be reproducing a number of its past games for an as yet unspecified system, with Chrono Trigger, Seiken Densetsu, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Parasite Eve having already been confirmed. It remains unclear whether these are simply re-releases or complete remakes. Also, no major new projects will be taking place, other than the Final Fantasy series. However, the series will be expanded by spin-offs, such as sub-series focusing on certain characters in the games, or even sequels.

This fiscal year will be used as both a preparation period for the next year, and an opportunity to change the production line of the company, as well as other factors.
