EA Inks FFX International Deal

Electronic Arts has announced that it has reached an agreement with Square to distribute Final Fantasy X International in the Asia Pacific region, or to be more precise, in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and Korea.

Square and EA have already been working together closely since 1998, when the two companies founded two joint-ventures (Square EA LLC, EA Square KK) to exclusively publish each other's title in Japan and the North American market.

The original version of Final Fantasy X was released in Japan on July 19th and has sold more than 2.4 million copies. The game has been available in North America since December 26th, selling 1.6 million here. Final Fantasy X International, which was released on January 31st in Japan, features the English voice acting of the US version as well as some tweaking of the sphere grid and boss battles. It has sold more than 190,000 copies to date.
