Tsugunai: Atonement Media

Recently having found its way to North American retail shelves, Atlus announced yesterday the release of Tsugunai: Atonement, their first PlayStation 2 RPG to hit US shores. Showcasing a moving, well-woven story played out from the perspective of 12 different playable characters, Tsugunai enjoys a unique premise in which the player must take possession of various characters met throughout the game. Coupled with the game's action-oriented real-time battle system, featuring dodge, counter attack and block functions, its breathtaking graphics and spell effects, and its eerie Celtic-styled musical score composed by Yasunori Mitsuda, Tsugunai offers a decidedly original role-playing experience.

Tsugunai's story casts you in the role of Leise, a young mercenary having incurred the wrath of the God of Light after having relieved the sacred pedestal of its Treasure Orb. To atone for his transgression, Leise is in turn relieved of his physical form, and is forced to wander Walondia and help its people as best a disembodied soul can. As a means to the ends of confronting the evil that has spread across the land, Leise is able to possess the people of Wanlondia in hopes of guiding the fate of the land for the better and saving his soul in the process.

"Tsugunai is a wonderful departure from the tired concepts being used in RPGs today," commented Sonoko Saito, Atlus U.S.A.'s Product Manager. "Possessing the different characters in the game enables the user to view the story from many perspectives and not just the main hero's. This unique way of presenting the narrative enables us to turn the town of Walondia into a living, breathing world."

Currently retailing for $49.99 and carrying a Teen rating, browse through our extensive collection of new English screen shots to help decide if Tsugunai is the game for you. We have 107 screen shots spread across 4 galleries here. Enjoy!
