RedMoon Info and Media

If I had to describe the plans of Korean software developer, JoyCity in one word, it would be ambitious. When RPGFan interviewed CEO Yang-Shin Kim and Marketing representative, Kevin Hannah, we discovered that the company's big MMORPG, RedMoon is about to get even bigger.

RedMoon, is one of the fastest growing MMORPGs in Korea, and has caught on quite well in the US. However, up until now, American players have had to settle for an earth-bound story. Well pretty soon that will change, as Philar, Azlar, Sadad, and the rest take the story back to Signus.

Until now, players have been restricted to earth, but the story is bigger than that, says Hannah. The next step will be to allow players to go to Signus, the other world mentioned in the prologue, and join up with an army (a feature that hasn't been too incredibly useful in the game so far). Characters will then be able to overthrow the tyrant and either become a savior, or take the role of a tyrant themselves, at least until someone comes to challenge them.

RedMoon uses an interesting server system, in which individual servers are networked together into a sort of virtual server that can handle thousands of characters all at once. If the need arises to allow more players access at once, just add another server. This will create a huge world, which will be even larger than the 1000 user worlds of other MMORPGs such as Ultima Online.

While there are still some issues to be worked out, for instance how to handel Player Killing (PKing) across servers, since in Korea there is very little PKing, version 3.0 should be out soon, and with it, the game will expand increadibly, and RPGFan will be there to give you a review of it.

Until then, we've got a Preview of the game, along with 29 Screen Shots and 21 pieces of Artwork. If you haven't played RedMoon yet, you can download it at the game's website, and if you see a Destino SenseiPhoenix, say hi.
