E3: Interplay Impressions

E3 and Interplay, perfect together. Interplay, publisher for both Black Isles Studios and BioWare, showcased four of their upcoming RPGs at E3, Neverwinter Nights, TORN, Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal, and Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance.

On Black Isle's side, Neverwinter Nights for PC was far along in the development process, with the dungeon, character, and weapon creation engines looking complete and user-friendly.

TORN, set in Black Isles' own world, was also on display, and promises to be fully 3D, with reactive character dialogue, multiple solutions to puzzles, and the Fallout skill system.

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance for the PS2 had high-res graphics as well as painstakingly detailed water and lighting effects. It promises two-player cooperative play, and unlike the PC incarnations of the BG series, promises to be a more linear, story-driven action/RPG.

Finally, Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal, the Baldur's Gate II add-on by BioWare was on display. It promises to be a high-level adventure, with the option of both continuting the story from Shadows of Amn or having a brand new adventure.

We'll have previews and screenshots later in the day for you all, so stay tuned.
