Wednesday News Bits

We've got some news from Sega to begin with. The company has announced their PC lineup for the Tokyo Game Show, one game being Black Isle Studio's Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn. It's good to know that the series is reaching Japanese shores at last.

In other Sega news, Sega Corp. has appointed VP Hideki Sato to replace the late Isao Okawa as president of the company. As we reported earlier, Isao Okawa died of a heart attack last Friday, and left a great deal of stock to Sega in order to help the company through its transition to a software-only strategy. Nihon Keizai Shimbun had speculated that the new president would be Tetsu Kayama, but apparently not.

Wizards of the Coast Inc., Fluid Entertainment and Troika Games have announced a new project, Dungeons & Dragons Master Tools, a program that will allow game masters to create entire campaigns for their favorite tabletop RPG system. D&D Master Tools builds upon the popular Master Tools Character Generator demo disc and will allow a game master to customize monsters, area maps, spells, and even the rules (to a certain extent). The program is scheduled for an August shipping date.

THQ delivers: Those PC owners who have been waiting for the port of Summoner need wait no longer. THQ has finally shipped the game. We have a review of the PS2 version here. Also, on the N64 front, Aidyn Chronicles: The First Mage, also published by THQ, has been sent out for consumption.
