RPGFan's 2000 RPG Awards

The year 2000 will probably stay in everybody's memory as the "Year of RPGs". Never have there been so many quality RPGs released in the course of one year, and, quite frankly, I don't see how any year could beat 2000 in the future. Not only were there TONS of RPGs released, but, even more importantly, there were TONS of QUALITY RPGs released. Final Fantasy IX, Chrono Cross, Skies of Arcadia, Grandia II, Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete, Valkyrie Profile, Breath of Fire IV, Baldur's Gate II, Diablo II, the list goes on and on. Almost every system had its share of good RPGs, even the Nintendo 64 got Ogre Battle 64 and a new Zelda title. Perhaps the only system without any good RPGs was the newly released PlayStation 2, but that's understandable since it is a new system and, usually, good RPGs only come later in a system's lifespan (look at Dreamcast and N64 for example). It's a miracle that it already has 4 RPGs released in such a short amount of time... it's just a shame that none of them were really any good.

Anyway, enough with the small talk here.. let's get right to the awards. We have 2 pages for the 2000 RPGs of the year special. One page contains the top 5 RPGs of every editor on the site along with text for each choice. The other page is the combination of all of the editors' choices into what will be refered to as "RPGFan's Top 10 RPGs of 2000".

You can find the individual choices from each editor of RPGFan on this page right here and you can check out the overall RPGFan Top 10 right here.
