Thursday's News Bits

Just as Dragon Warrior I & II ships to the states, Dragon Quest III: Soshite densetsu e... (roughly translated as Dragon Quest III: And then, to the legend...) is announced in Japan for GameBoy Color. This new version will be based on the Super Famicom remake that was released in late 1996. DQIII is one of the most if not the most popular installment of the series in Japan. Dragon Quest III will be released on December 8th for 4,500 yen.

The WonderSwan Color and one of its launch titles, some game known as Final Fantasy (:P), have received an official release date. You will be able to purchase the WonderSwan (available in 6 different colors) for 6,800 yen, and Final Fantasy (4,800 yen) on December 9th. Or you can just pick the Final Fantasy WS special edition, a WS system and the game for 9,999 yen. Provided that you're in Japan, of course, since the WonderSwan has not been announced for a US release.

Fans of this obscure anime-style RPG series, rejoice! Marie to Elie no Atelier (Marie's and Elie's Atelier) is announced for the Dreamcast and should be released in March of 2001. No word as to whether the story will be original or just a remake of the two Saturn/PS games (Marie no Atelier and Elie no Atelier) reunited in this DC title. It may be a simple compilation of the two games, though.

And as usual, here are the game sales figures of September 4th to 10th. How many weeks will Dragon Quest VII keep the number 1 rank? It looks like the DQVII madness is nowhere near stopping...
