Pokémon Movie Impressions

Well, today was the day. The Pokémon Movie was released in America today. And to the dismay of most of the staff members here...But not I. And not the Chronologist either...

Well, here's the rundown of why you should and should not see the movie. First of all, if you're a Pokémon fan, then it is worth seeing no matter what the drawbacks are. If you're somewhat familiar with it, but aren't an obsessive card-trading kid (this is where I fit in), it's still worth seeing if you can forget the drawbacks. The drawbacks are few but very significant. The first...as mentioned earlier on the page, is the soundtrack. You'll hear Britney Spears, M2M, Christina Aguilera, 98 Degrees, and more...This is a disgrace to Pokémon and it makes me sick. What's more, there's a short episode before the film called "Pikachu's Vacation". I liked it, but there are many who thought it was stupid. All of the talking came from the Pokédex or the Pokémon themselves, as there weren't any humans present. However, it does introduce a few new Pokémon (Marril being one of them).

The movie itself had a storyline much more in depth and powerful than the show, and that's an understatement. Also, some of the action sequences (especially the scene when Pikachu's escaping the evil Pokéballs) were very dramatic and VERY cool. What's more, the BGM music (Not featured on the American soundtrack, only the import soundtrack) was very good.

There, that's about all you need to know. If you're already a Pokémon fan, then you probably saw it today. If you're not, but you're willing to give it a chance, then please do.

On a personal note, I turned 16 today and this is what I did for my birthday. That and receive the Wild ARMs and Wild ARMs: 2nd Ignition Soundtracks. ;)
