Evolution Nearly Ready

The Dreamcast is the most powerful home system available today, but many RPG players are still waiting for the next generation of games in their favorite genre to emerge.

Soon they may get their wishes answered, sort of. Evolution is a turn based RPG developed by Sting, a group of former Square employees who banded together to form their own development house. Those familiar with the import scene will remember that they also made Baroque for the Saturn, and then the Playstation. Set for a U.S. release by the end of this year, Evolution follows the exploits of Mag Launcher and his friends as they explore several ruins scattered around the world. The translation of the game is almost complete, and soon Dreamcast owners will get their first true RPG.

While Evolution probably won't leave you in awe as much as some of the recent Playstation RPGs, it stands on its own well enough to be considered by any Dreamcast owner who craves another role player in their library.

Importers will also get a dose of Evolution this holiday season when the sequel finally hits Japan.
