Gate Keepers Pictures

Earlier this year, Gate Keepers was announced in Japan for a November '99 release on Playstation. The publisher will be ESP/Kadokawa while the anime is being done by Gonzo, which designed the anime from the Lunar series as well as Grandia. These two companies have combined their resources to make what looks to be a strategy/RPG.

From what the screenshots show, the characters are on a three dimensional grid with menu-based commands to choose from during battle. Gate Keepers will also have anime cut scenes and detailed character artwork during dialouge.

So far, all that is known about the story is that it will take place in Tokyo, Japan, the year 1969. The main character will be a high school-aged boy with a supporting cast of similarly aged people.

We have 15 screen shots (6 game play screens and 9 anime shots) and 21 pieces of assorted artwork for you to view.

As for a North American release, it's too soon to tell. Who knows, maybe Working Designs will pick up this game for an English translation?
