Everquest Online Adventures Event
by Stephen Harris - 03/07/03

The release of EverQuest Online Adventures for the PlayStation 2 marks a milestone in the history of the console ever since the release of the network adapter. For the first time, the vastness of a true Massively-Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) would be brought into the living room. With Sony's reluctance to bring the PS2 hard disk drive (HDD) unit to North America, most gamers were skeptical such a thing could ever have been possible. On February 12th 2003, Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) proved that the impossible wasn't quite so improbable, shipping the very first online-only persistent game world for a North American console. Last weekend, RPGFan had the pleasure of touring SOE's studio in San Diego, CA to speak with the design team behind EverQuest Online Adventures; experiencing the game hands-on as well as the next evolution of EverQuest: The Legacy of Ykesha. In attendance at the conference with me were Baelish from Caster's Realm, Jeff from Allakhazam, Julian from Stratics, Kris from AllRPG, Moorgard from Mob Hunter and Jason and Janae from EQOA Realms.
